rain for a rainbow

i used to think when it rained,

they were tears falling from heaven. someone above was grieved and we were experiencing the aftermath.

but now...

i'd just think its a type of precipitation; atmospheric water vapour form clouds and released on the Earth's surface as rain.

and how about the rainbow?

obviously a pot of gold and a leprechaun await at its foot! duh!
